Overview

Cleary Gottlieb is a pioneer in globalizing the legal profession. We have 15 offices in major financial centers around the world, but we operate as a single, integrated global partnership and not as a U.S. firm with a network of overseas locations. The firm employs approximately 1,100 lawyers from more than 50 countries.

Since 1946 our lawyers and staff have worked across practices, industries, jurisdictions, and continents to provide clients with simple, actionable approaches to their most complex legal and business challenges, whether domestic or international. We support every client relationship with intellectual agility, commercial acumen, and a human touch.

The AI Innovation Manager will focus on ensuring that lawyers and business professionals effectively use the firm’s AI and practice technology tools. This role emphasizes end-user support, training, and communications, creating resources that enable adoption and ensuring that tools are embedded into daily workflows. The position’s primary responsibility is enablement, adoption, and ongoing user engagement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep curiosity and commitment to understanding AI and its potential in legal practice, consistently seeking to expand their expertise and apply it in practical ways.

  • Collect and synthesize user feedback, escalating issues and improvement opportunities to the Innovation team.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Collaborate with Practice Development, Knowledge Solutions, and IT to ensure user needs are met.
  • Partner with the AI Operations Manager and other Innovation team members to align enablement activities with broader product lifecycle management.

Qualifications

  • JD required, with experience as a practicing lawyer; transactional practice background strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of combined experience in legal practice and legal technology, legal operations, professional training, or practice support.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead adoption initiatives in a professional services or law firm environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with executive presence and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Proven experience delivering impactful training (live and virtual) and developing high-quality enablement resources.
  • Strong interest with AI and legal technology tools with a track record of continuous learning and hands-on exploration of emerging tools.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical mindset to interpret adoption data and user feedback, and translate findings into action.
