Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton seeks a Legal Recruiting Coordinator to manage and execute recruiting initiatives for summer associates, international lawyers, and new hires. The Legal Recruiting Coordinator will report to the Legal Recruiting Manager in Washington, D.C. and work closely with attorneys, candidates, and firm leadership, including the Chair of the Washington Recruiting Committee and the Chairs of the Summer Program Committee.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage interview process for all candidates, including scheduling interviews, monitoring and sending correspondence, and facilitating offer follow up meetings
  • Pre-screen resumes and conduct initial reviews of summer associate candidate applications
  • Update and maintain reports and statistics for Washington, D.C. Recruiting Committee
  • Conduct preliminary information sessions with summer associate candidates
  • Develop marketing materials for attorney recruiting (digital marketing materials, recruiting brochures, NALP forms)
  • Support law student hiring efforts by liaising with student organizations to coordinate firm sponsorships and events
  • Plan and execute recruiting events such as networking receptions, outreach initiatives, attorney panel discussions on campus, and virtual recruiting-related programs
  • Organize and administer the summer associate program in the Washington Office
  • Serve as primary contact for summer associates during the onboarding process and throughout the summer program
  • Arrange office-specific and US-wide summer associate orientation sessions
  • Plan, execute, and attend social functions for summer associate program
  • Draft mid-summer and end of summer reviews for the Summer Program Committee
  • Process inquiries for lateral associates, summer associates, international lawyers and law clerks
  • Support Legal Recruiting Manager with lateral associate hiring and external agency coordination and correspondence
  • Monitor recruiting efforts across firm offices and provide support as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 2 years of legal recruiting experience with strong administrative background
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated discretion, sound judgment, tact, and professionalism
  • Ability to manage diverse responsibilities effectively
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Proven ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy under pressure
  • Excellent decision-making skills with diplomacy and stress tolerance
  • Capability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and recruiting software (ViRecruit preferred)

The estimated base salary for this position is $70,000 to $80,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, and performance. This role is non-exempt meaning it is overtime pay eligible.
