Overview

The Business Development (BD) Specialist will play a key role in supporting the strategic objectives and driving growth for the Americas Antitrust and Foreign Investment Review Practices. They will also help build, and train the team on, best practices for various business processes. The role will report into the Antitrust Business Development Manager and will work closely with attorneys and other members of the Global Business Development (BD) team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare highly tailored pitches and RFP responses, directory and award submissions, and marketing materials with minimal managerial supervision.
  • Conduct research on existing and prospective clients, competitor activity, and industry or market trends.
  • Work with senior BD team members, including the Global Business Development Director of Practices, in building and training the broader team on best practices as they relate to the Firm’s BD priorities, including pitching, experience management, etc.
  • Work closely with senior BD leadership and practice leadership on global and local cross-selling and client targeting efforts, including as they relate to the firm’s key client program.
  • Attend practice group and client team meetings, as appropriate, and prepare agendas, materials, and minutes in connection with such meetings.
  • Act as dedicated BD support on up to 3 of the Firm’s key client accounts, working with senior members of the BD team to coordinate the relationships globally and leverage a strong understanding of the clients’ strategies, challenges, and competitive and regulatory landscapes to identify client development opportunities.
  • Work with the BD team’s assistants and the legal assistants to maintain and update BD activities and mailing lists in the Firm’s CRM system and practice experience in the Firm’s Experience Management system.
  • Coordinate with other teams such as Events, PR/Comms, etc. to ensure a seamless process that will help raise the profile of the firm and these practices, in particular.
  • Foster a collaborative environment and help promote an exceptional culture across the team.

Qualifications

The position requires a high-energy and motivated team player who is also able to work both independently and collaboratively. The individual must be able to adapt to change, balance competing demands, and manage demands outside of traditional business hours.

  • 4+ years of relevant business development experience in a professional services firm.
  • Experience writing pitches and proposals.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills and the ability to synthesize, interpret, and summarize information from a wide variety of sources in a clear concise manner.
  • Ability to develop and display strong substantive knowledge of the supported practices and markets.
  • A proactive thinking individual who is excited to bring new ideas to the table.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • A strong team player, fostering collaborative environments and contributing to collective success.
  • Ability to handle time-sensitive requests and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expected to monitor emails outside of regular business hours.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, Americas Antitrust and Foreign Investment Review Practices market preferred.

 

*This role has the ability to work remotely a maximum of two days per week, in lieu of working onsite. The Firm may designate the specific days you are required to work onsite. This policy is subject to change.

The estimated base salary for this position is $100,000 to $130,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, and performance. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
