Purpose:

 

Assisting the Risk team globally in advising senior management, partners, legal and professional staff on regulatory matters affecting the Firm, especially on-boarding new clients and matters in line with the Firm’s procedures with a focus on Anti Money Laundering. The role includes: the production and maintenance of policies in key areas; the implementation of internal risk processes; and the provision of relevant training. Responsible for advising on day to day AML queries. Conducting client due diligence and sanctions checks for new business.

Responsibilities

  • Clearing New Matters
  • Facilitating the client and matter on-boarding process, particularly by conducting risk client due diligence checks, sanctions screening and reputational risk analysis on new clients and new mandates;
  • Carrying out analysis and identifying any additional information required or steps to be taken (for example, the setting up of information barrier arrangements or insider lists);
  • Assisting with maintaining databases, breach log, risk registers and internal know-how;
  • Assisting with risk support to the Firm’s procurement function;
  • Undertaking research and analysis;
  • Produce various reports relating to new matters;
  • Working on ad hoc projects that arise from to-to-time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to provide clear written advice.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask, work in an organized manner, and keep detailed and timely notes.
  • Takes time to break down issues into component parts and asks appropriate questions to ensure understanding before beginning a task.
  • Identifies personal development needs by proactively seeking feedback to improve performance and looks for opportunities to work on different types of matters to challenge existing knowledge and skills.
  • Enthusiastic team player, willing to assist with tasks that may be repetitive or administrative when necessary, and takes pride in team success.
  • Experience in client onboarding preferred, ideally gained in an international law firm, professional services firm, or financial institution.
  • An understanding of corporate structures, including companies, trusts, and partnerships, is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Legal Key, IntApp Open, or other conflicts management tools is a plus but not required.

 

*The estimated base salary range for this position is $72,500,000 to $75,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, and performance. This role is non-exempt, meaning it is overtime pay eligible.
