The Restructuring and Capital Solutions Analyst will play a key role in proactively targeting opportunities to drive growth for the Restructuring practice, including identifying emerging distressed markets, evaluating potential clients, and leveraging market insights to support strategic decision-making. The role will report into the Global Director of Business Development, Client & Markets and will work closely with attorneys and other members of the Global Business Development (BD) team.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor market events, macroeconomic trends, changes in policies, etc. that might generate restructuring/liability management opportunities in the markets or industries we are targeting; as well as identifying any new markets or industries that may become distressed.
  • Analyse financials, operational performance, capital structures with a view to try and identify early signs of distress to be able to target the potential opportunities before they hit the specialized restructuring press.
  • Analyse target debtors’ financial condition and performance, including ability to raise additional capital, identification of areas of potential value leakage etc.
  • Prepare regular reports in connection with new and existing business opportunities and discuss those with senior members of the restructuring/special situations team.
  • Assist with financial analysis in preparing pitch decks.
  • Assist in the evaluation of investment opportunities in distressed and special situations.
  • Support the maintenance of various new and existing target trackers.
  • Analyse client’s and competitor’s market trends relevant to law firm restructuring practices.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate restructuring, financial advisory, and/or investment banking with a financing focus, or at least 5 years of experience in a law firm supporting restructuring, debt finance, or debt capital markets practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of the finance and restructuring industry, with an understanding of cross-border transactions, loan/fund structures.
  • An in-depth understanding of stressed, distressed and special situations opportunities.
  • Proven track record of strong financial analysis, including the ability to assess complex financial data and draw actionable insights.
  • Excellent research abilities coupled with critical thinking to analyse and solve complex problems in financial scenarios.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with an organised approach to handling tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables within a tight timeframe and deliver high quality work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in preparing reports, communications, and delivering presentations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CapIQ, Bloomberg, Reorg, Debtwire and/or other financial databases.
  • Expected to monitor emails outside of regular business hours.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends, as needed.

The estimated base salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $200,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will be determined based on various job-related factors, including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, the scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, and performance. This is a exempt role, meaning it is not eligible for overtime pay.
