We seek a full-time paralegal to provide broad, responsive, and efficient case management, document, and operational support to our world class litigation, enforcement, bankruptcy and antitrust practice areas. Under the direction of partners and associates, and under the general supervision of the Litigation Resources Manager, our paralegals assist with all aspects of client and case support on a variety of innovative, complex, and often highly visible matters.

 

Our preferred candidate for this role will have solid experience working on multi-party, complex litigation; demonstrated effective project management skills; superior organizational and time management skills; effective problem-solving skills; a positive, professional demeanor; the ability to communicate effectively with personnel of all levels; and a record of delivering exceptional client service under pressure in a fast-paced, complex, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys with various matters, including but not limited to complex litigation (general commercial disputes, intellectual property, M&A, securities and sovereign litigations), arbitration, antitrust, bankruptcy, white-collar defense and investigations, pro bono and advocacy matters.
  • May handle case management aspects of litigation-type matters, while serving as a liaison between attorneys and paralegals on case teams, allocating assignments to paralegals on case teams, managing team task lists, tracking projects, and keeping attorneys apprised of status.
  • Assist with all aspects of pleadings preparation and filings, including but not limited to proofreading, cite-checking, bluebooking, and shepardizing documents, as well as arranging for service of documents with the Firm’s Managing Attorney’s Office.
  • Collaborate with Discovery Group lawyers and assist with all aspects of discovery and trial preparation including but not limited to coding documents; creating and maintaining document databases; creating and maintaining document logs; document production; deposition management and support; preparation of witness binders, trial exhibits, and trial notebooks; coordinating logistical support arrangements for hearings and trial; and providing on-site trial support.
  • Assist attorneys with legal and factual research.
  • Draft applications, petitions, forms, pleadings, correspondence, and discovery documents and responses, among other things.
  • Translate foreign language documents and serve as interpreters for clients and/ or lawyers, subject to ability.
  • Perform timely and accurate maintenance of case files pursuant to Firm's document retention policy.
  • Mentor and train junior paralegals.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years paralegal experience with significant experience working on multi-party, complex litigation and/or arbitrations.
  • Prior effective and collegial supervision of case teams preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills as well as ability to produce independently with excellent results and accuracy in work product.
  • Proficiency in legal software and e-discovery tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis, Relativity, Westlaw Case Notebook, CaseMap, TrialDirector).
  • Superior detail orientation, written and verbal communication, organization, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Well-versed understanding of The Bluebook and proficiency in applying its rules and standards of citation
  • Ability to handle pressure, long hours, prioritize effectively and manage multiple deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities and interruptions.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian or Mandarin language skills, a plus, but not required.
  • Flexibility to work extensive overtime and travel as needed.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and materials with care and discretion.

The estimated base salary for this position is between $120,000 - $130,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, and performance. This role is non-exempt meaning that it is overtime pay eligible.
