The Managing Attorney will be a senior leader in Cleary’s eDiscovery group, reporting directly to the Global Head of eDiscovery. 

Responsibilities

  • Participate in strategic planning for global discovery group
  • Serve as primary point of contact for New York senior Cleary lawyers and clients related to early stages of litigations and disputes involving eDiscovery
  • Advise clients on substantive legal and technological issues across the EDRM space, including by interfacing with in-house e-discovery lawyers and personnel
  • Advise teams for individual client matters on legal and technological issues associated with e-discovery
  • Maintain an expertise in the newest e-discovery tools and workflows (including related to machine learning and GenAI)
  • Work with Global Head of eDiscovery in managing the e-discovery group’s budget and ensuring its continued growth and innovation
  • Develop and implement best practices to maximize quality, efficiency, and profitability of e-discovery group
  • Maintain a profile as a leader in the field, including by regularly participating in conferences and publishing on relevant e-discovery issues, tools and technologies, and developments
  • Serve as direct supervisor for portions of the US discovery team

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an ABA accredited school and active member of at least NY bar
  • Strong writing and analytical skills
  • Experience successfully leading and managing large teams of attorneys and technologists in an environment of fast changing demands and tight deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of current e-discovery case law (including governing issues of privilege) and best practices
  • Expertise with a wide range of e-discovery technology (including machine learning and other artificial intelligence tools)
  • Experience with e-discovery issues in large, complex disputes
  • Experience directly consulting with and advising clients
  • Exceptional problem solving skills, diplomacy and customer-service orientation, both inward and outward facing

 

The estimated base salary range for this position is $250,000 to $275,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, and performance. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
