Overview

Cleary Glottieb seeks a Pro Bono Specialist. The Pro Bono Specialist is responsible for operational and logistical support of the firm’s pro bono practice at Cleary Gottlieb under the supervision of Cleary’s Pro Bono Counsel & Director. The role will directly support the Pro Bono Counsel & Director and the Senior Pro Bono Specialist in the execution of the strategic vision for the firm’s Pro Bono Practice, providing administrative coordination and support for the program.

Responsibilities

Pro Bono Clinic Administration

  • Work directly with Pro Bono Counsel & Director and Senior Pro Bono Specialist to manage and develop in-house client relationships and build collaborative pro bono opportunities
  • Maintain and help build pro bono relationships with legal service organizations and in-house partners
  • Work with attorneys firmwide to help meaningfully integrate them into pro bono opportunities with clients
  • Respond to in-house department requests for pro bono opportunities with comprehensive information, resources, and general information
  • Manage data relating to in-house legal department collaboration and provide timely information regarding our pro bono work with the clients
  • Plan and lead clinical programming as directed by the Pro Bono Counsel & Director and Senior Pro Bono Specialist

Pro Bono Practice Support

  • Coordinate the firm’s internal and external pro bono related meetings, events, CLEs, and clinics
  • Coordinate and/or provide administrative support to special and ongoing pro bono initiatives and projects as needed
  • Maintain records/data of program metrics throughout the year (event participation, corporate client partnerships, etc.)
  • Manage team calendar of events and presentations; develop agenda and structure for weekly team meetings
  • Support Pro Bono Specialist in development of presentations and data summaries across offices
  • Collaborate with Pro Bono Assistant on opening new matters, disengagement, preparing in-kind letters
  • Support Pro Bono Specialist in year-end reporting process as needed

Communications and External Relationships

  • Maintain and update the internal Pro Bono Wiki
  • Prepare responses to business development inquiries (RFPs, etc.)
  • Develop social media strategy and annual calendar
  • Lead on annual pro bono brochure update and generate marketing copy, awards submissions, and other materials
  • Manage external website presence and conduct regular updates
  • Support Senior Pro Bono Specialist in preparing responses to external pro bono surveys on behalf of the firm

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Fluency in Spanish language (speaking and writing)
  • 2+ years of professional experience in a fast-paced environment; law firm and/or legal services organization experience strongly preferred, preferably as a corporate paralegal
  • Must be comfortable working with lawyers at all seniority levels
  • Exceptional Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and good judgment
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects, and work under pressure in a deadline driven environment
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to take responsibility for projects to their conclusion and proactively identify team needs
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in and commitment to social justice
  • Flexibility to work longer hours during busier periods and on an as-needed basis

The estimated base salary for this position is $85,000 to $95,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, and performance. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
