Overview

Position designed to assist the Firm’s Associates, Partners, Managing Discovery Attorney, and Director of Litigation Resources in the management of document review, analysis and production for the Firm’s litigation, enforcement, securities and bankruptcy practice areas.

Responsibilities

Summary of Major Duties/Responsibilities:

• Review documents for responsiveness and privilege in response to discovery requests
• Manage all stages of a discovery project in a matter including, but not limited to, document preservation, document collection, data privacy issues, document review, document preparation for depositions or interviews, document productions, privilege logs, and postproduction document use
• Provide guidance and advice regarding discovery processes in a matter
• Assist the Firm’s partners and associates in responding to discovery requests and drafting ESI protocols, protective orders and review protocols
• Conduct research into the industry that is the subject of the document request
• Assist in developing plans and procedures for document collection, review, and production, including discovery protocols, privilege logs and process memoranda
• Work with and, where appropriate, direct and train paralegals, project attorneys, and contract attorneys
• Manage discovery vendors and work with our clients’ discovery attorneys and IT personnel
• Work with the US Litigation Technology Group
• Work with and stay informed about discovery technology, including review platforms and AI/TAR tools
• Work effectively with the firm’s global discovery groups in New York, Washington D.C., Brussels and London.
• Assist the Firm in other matters not related to discovery when needed

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and a member of the New York Bar
• Prior experience in a litigation practice preferred, especially complex, multi-party litigation
• Flexibility to work extensive overtime (including weekends/holidays) to meet the needs of the cases assigned
• Effective oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, project management and technical skills, diplomacy and client services
• Ability to manage teams and work under pressure
• Demonstrated ability to collect data, establish facts, draw defensible conclusions, define problems, propose and effectuate solutions
• Experience working with discovery vendors
• Extensive knowledge of Relativity, Concordance and other common discovery-related tools

 

Hours: Regular 35 hours/week schedule with possible overtime
Position: Full-Time, Non-exempt
Supervisor: Managing Discovery Attorney, Senior Discovery Attorney, Director of Litigation Resources

Supervises: Supervise and provide guidance to project attorneys, paralegals, contract attorneys and other office personnel, depending on the needs of cases and/or assignments.

Salary: The base salary for this position is $83,000, which would correspond to an hourly rate of $45.60, at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, and performance. This role is considered to be non-exempt and any hours worked in excess of 35 hours during a 5 day work week, will be paid at an overtime rate of 1.5 times the hourly figure ($68.40 per hour).
