    Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP is seeking a Public Relations Analyst to join our team of communications and marketing professionals. The media and communications operations are viewed as key components and effective drivers of the firm’s integrated marketing and business development strategy.

     

    The PR Analyst will help implement various communications and public relations initiatives designed to communicate effectively to key internal and external audiences. Reporting to the Senior PR Manager and working closely with two PR Specialists and a PR Assistant other department staff, the PR Analyst will contribute to the daily communications and PR team functions as well as broader strategic objectives and business development initiatives. A successful candidate will be a high-energy, motivated team player who is also able to work independently and demonstrates exceptional writing skills, outstanding attention to detail and interest in gaining solid experience in communications and public relations.

    Responsibilities

    • Monitor for media coverage and assist in the drafting and distribution of the firm’s various news coverage reports
    • Assist in maintaining and regularly updating department media databases, calendars and records
    • Share responsibility for auditing processes with PR Assistant
    • Develop targeted media lists
    • Monitor editorial and event calendars and proactively identify opportunities for the firm’s lawyers
    • Write and edit media-related materials, including award submissions
    • Secure publishing and profile-raising opportunities through targeted media outreach
    • Work closely with Marketing Communications, Business Development and Events teams on department initiatives as needed
    • Perform various research projects as assigned
    • Handle administrative projects including scheduling, event/meeting coordination, invoice processing, and other special projects as needed

    Qualifications

    • Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills
    • Strong research skills
    • Proactive approach and sense of project ownership as well as the judgment and discretion to handle sensitive matters
    • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities, and keep team apprised of workload and project status

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications/PR, Marketing or a related field
    • One to two years of experience in media relations, communications or marketing
    • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
    • Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products
    • Experience working with a media database tool, such as Gorkana or Roxhill, a plus
    • Experience with league table reporting a plus
