  • Overview

    Cleary Gottlieb’s Knowledge function is responsible for the design, creation and management of a suite of knowledge solutions which enable Partners and lawyers to find, access, and utilize knowledge and IP in the course of business development and client delivery.  The Knowledge Solutions Technical Writer will work with a team of knowledge experts, engineers and designers to document and create documentation standards for knowledge solutions products, processes and projects. 


    • Document Business and Functional Requirements with Knowledge Solutions Product Managers.
    • Create wireframes based on requirements meetings and feedback from the firm.
    • Continuously improve, enrich and extend documentation over time to continue to adapt and evolve to changing requirements.
    • Create Governance policy documentation with Knowledge Architect and Practice Development Leadership.
    • Create Training materials based on standard training templates (and update templates as required).
    • Own standard operating procedures (SOPs) for products at deployment and update as needed to maintain smooth operations after launch.
    • Revise documents as required to accommodate changing business requirements
    • Maintain style guide to set standards for documentation to maintain order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
    • Participate in regular meetings of the Practice Development program and associated and relevant project meetings.
    • Liaise with other business support functions as necessary in course of duties.


    • Experience in a commercial or professional services organization. Legal background preferred but not essential.
    • Bachelor’s degree to graduate level. Studies in an information or research related discipline preferred (but not essential).
    • Ability to work globally and interpret and translate business requirements into products.
    • Focus on actionable outputs and deliverables with understanding of, and ability to use, innovative techniques to display information and data.
    • Excellent understanding of the critical success criteria for knowledge solutions products.
    • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience of communicating with non-technical audiences on complex technical solutions and matters
    • Customer focused approach to service delivery
    • Agile project management methodologies and strong understanding of user experience design
