  • Overview

    The PR Assistant will help implement various communications and public relations initiatives designed to communicate effectively to key internal and external audiences. Reporting to the Senior Public Relations Manager and working closely with two Public Relations Specialists, a Public Relations Analyst and other department staff, the PR Assistant will contribute to the daily communications and PR team functions as well as broader strategic objectives and business development initiatives. A successful candidate will be a high-energy, motivated team player who is also able to work independently and demonstrates exceptional writing skills, outstanding attention to detail and interest in gaining solid experience in communications and public relations.

    Responsibilities

    • Monitor for media coverage and spearhead the drafting and distribution of the firm’s various news coverage reports
    • Maintain and regularly update department media databases, calendars and records
    • Maintain PR Team activity tracking documents and assist with various reporting needs
    • Assist with the league table reporting and auditing processes and related research
    • Develop targeted media lists and actively monitor journalists’ job moves
    • Collect and review editorial and awards calendars and proactively assist in identifying opportunities for the firm’s lawyers and practices
    • Assist with the writing and editing of media-related materials, including award submissions
    • Assist in outreach to media to help secure publishing and profile-raising opportunities
    • Work closely with Marketing Communications, Business Development and Events teams to become familiar with department processes and initiatives and assist as needed
    • Perform research projects as assigned
    • Handle administrative projects including scheduling, event/meeting coordination, invoice processing and other special projects as needed

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications/PR, Marketing or a related field
    • A minimum of one year of experience in media relations, communications or marketing is desired
    • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
    • Experience working with a media database tool, such as Gorkana, a plus
    • Experience with league table reporting a plus
