Overview

We seek a full‑time Docket Clerk to join our focused, high volume Managing Attorney's Office in Washington. This position is primarily responsible for assisting with the office's internal docket including calendaring and court filing support. Together with the Managing Attorney and Senior Docket Clerk, this role acts as liaison to courts and government agencies and offices. Core responsibilities include opening new cases, saving court documents, and daily docket monitoring. Successful candidates are detail-oriented, deadline driven, strong researchers, technically inclined, and outstanding communicators.

 

Position: Nonexempt

 

Regular Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

 

Reports to: Assistant Managing Attorney

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of administrative tasks in support of the firm's litigation practice and under the supervision of the Assistant Managing Attorney, whose office is responsible for tracking all litigation cases and proceedings that are pending before a court or administrative agency in which the firm appears as attorney of record
  • Assist with the document management and calendaring duties of the Managing Attorney's Office by culling relevant information from pleadings and correspondence and entering this information into the firm's docketing database
  • Assist with docket research, retrieval, and monitoring; performs other research, reporting and other assignments as needed

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record
  • Demonstrated extensive experience with computer software, particularly Microsoft Word and e-mail programs
  • Excellent research skills
  • Strong communication skills oral and written
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Availability and flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Willingness to commit to position for a minimum of 2 years
