The position reports to the Client Accounting Supervisor and assists in all phases of client billing including bill preparation, submission, follow-up and communication with clients and partners related to bill preparation and submitted bills. This is a detail oriented position with an emphasis on technical tasks, strong writing and interpersonal skills.


  • Responsible for submission and coordination of client invoice/e-bills to client and third party e-billing vendor websites utilizing e-billing templates and other software tools.
  • Review timekeeper diaries and costs for compliance with client/vendor terms, including the processing of corrections as needed to minimize delays in uploading or rejection of the client invoices/e-bills.
  • Responsible for the preparing accruals of unbilled time as requested by client contacts.
  • Responsible for regular monitoring of bill processing status and other necessary follow up to ensure successful processing and timely payment to the firm.
  • Meet with Partners and other lawyers regularly to discuss status of client matter and to agree strategy and timing of invoice submission.
  • Participate in the review and monitoring of client billing arrangements, client billing address and other related information maintained in the firms New Matter Intake System (requires collaboration with other members in NY Finance).
  • Provide analysis support to partners related to fees billed on related clients
  • Participate in the implementation and testing of systems upgrades to billing related software.



  • 4 year business degree with minimum GPA of 3.0 in major and overall
  • Proficiency with Excel and Word
  • Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills
  • Minimum of 1-2+ years of relevant billing experience at a professional service firm or law firm is required
